Stellarium

  • Suggested Activity Stellarium/activity
  • Full sets of lessons here: http://digitaliseducation.com/curricula.html
  • It is worth noting that these lesson plans are designed for a portable planetarium and whilst the projection of Stellarium on a classroom wall is not quite the same, in terms of what can be shown is the same but they are written on the basis that there is an planetarium (running stellarium) and so may seem a bit odd if you were not tuned into that fact.
  • Suggestions in order of preference
    1. What's Up - Whatsup.pdf - Use activity II from this sheet - Tonight's Sky but will need to stress the southern hemisphere navigation needed (the teaching pack contains refrence to the north star). Section D suggests using a mirror and flashlight but this is not nescessary. James's revised version of What's Up (a very quick revision/edit) File:What's Up.doc and RTF (same as above) File:What's Up.rtf
    2. Sky Stories - Skystories.pdf provides an alternative/extra activity but will need adapting by the teachers to draw out the actual stellarium content.
    3. Moving Right Along - Moving right along.pdf again needs adapting and potentially removing some of the extra activities

Note: The linked pdf files containing lesson plans were created by Digitalis Education Solutions, Inc.
