I am the Open Educational Resources Advocate for the Centre for Teaching and Learning in the University of Limerick. My PhD focussed on the barriers that prevent teachers at post-primary from using ICT in their classrooms. My research involved working directly with teachers of English at Junior Certificate level and conducting a needs analysis with them for the successful implementation of some elements of ICT into their teaching.

As a result of this analysis I collaborated with this group of teachers and designed and developed a number of multimedia resources to enhance the teaching and learning of English poetry. These resources were curriculum specific and were tailor made for the teachers involved. The research also involved the observation of both teacher and student use of these resources. The final stage of the work was to establish a framework for the development of similar resources. This framework would be of use to those wishing to develop digital materials for use in both the primary and post-primary classroom.
