Approaches to Reading in the Classroom
Lesson idea. The resource comprises one 3 page DfES document (drawn from a larger document - see related resources). It highlights a range of approaches to reading in the classroom, and includes an activity to explore one model of reasons why we ask pupils to read in the classroom (to skim, evaluate, communicate, etc.).

This resource highlights a range of approaches to reading in the classroom and the reasons we ask pupils to engage in reading activities, including the importance of subject language(ta), study skills(topic), and conceptual reasoning(ta) and visualisation(ta) arising from subject based reading activities.
