Talk:Geogebra

From OER in Education
  • **Activity Outine:** The activities using Geogebra are pretty open ended in terms of how they could be used by the teacher.
  • The suggested geogebra files listed below are either designed to show/illustrate/allow practive of/exmplify various mathematical techniques (such as measuring angles) or they are selected to help demonstrate/help students visualise various mathematical relationships or patters (e.g. preimeters and areas of rectangles)
  • They could be used for class teaching and using a data projector to show these techniques or relationships or students could be given the computer(s) to spend some time exploring and becoming familiar with these relationships. The teachers will need to be shown Geogebra and the particular files and how they work and then given some flexibility as to how they feel they are most approiatel used.
  • Many more ideas for teachers are available here: http://www.geogebra.org/en/wiki/index.php/English
  1. Developing Mathematical Techniques (In order of James' preference)
    1. Measuring Angles (Stand alone download available HERE: http://www.geogebra.org/en/wiki/index.php/Measuring_Drawing_Angles)
    2. Measuring Length (Not sure if this can be DL to run remotely HERE: http://www.geogebra.org/en/wiki/index.php/Measuring_Length)
    3. Perimeters and Areas of Rectangles (http://www.geogebra.org/en/wiki/index.php/Perimeters_%26_Areas_of_Rectangles)

    2. All 12 'Area of' activites from http://www.geogebra.org/en/wiki/index.php/Area_Formulas (would need a HTM:L skin so probably not now!)
