A DEFT case study with Winterhill High School, Rotherham

Lesson idea. Pupils research and create OERs(topic) to accompany educational displays at Magna. The resources incorporated the following elements: artwork, digital or otherwise; scientific information; video footage about the steelwork industry. QR codes(tool) link the display to webpages hosting the OERs. The particular technologies covered in this case study are: QR codes, formatting content for mobile devices and uploading content to the web.

Teaching approach. This cross curricula(i) case study focusses on Digital Literacy, in particular using E-skills(topic) to: support English skills as pupils are writing for a specific audience (exhibition visitors), improve research skills through the process of creating OERs and to gain a better understanding of the use of QR codes for marketing and educational purposes.
