The ORBIT Coursebook
OER:Books/ORBIT
The core ORBIT book starts with an extensive introduction, discussing its use in classroom practice and CPD, the use of Creative Commons licence material, and an overview of the materials. The body of the book contains a number of study units, each of which includes
- An introduction and research commentary for the topic being covered
- Teacher Education Resources for exploring the particular topic
- Classroom use resources which we think are illustrative of good practice in the pedagogic approach
The final chapter of the book covers the use of ICT in education.
How to Create your Own Book
In order to create your own ORBIT resource book, compiled from resources you select you should:
- Go to this page on our wiki Special:Book
- Navigate to individual resources pages
- Use the 'add to book' feature - which will appear at the top of each resource page - to add that page to your book
- Click 'show book' on the same dialogue box at the top of the page
- Use the page you're sent to (at Special:Book) to check the contents of your book, and download it in PDF format

Suggested Books
If you have created your very own ORBIT book and would like to share it with ORBIT users you can do that by using the Special:Book page again! All you need to do is:
- Create a book as described above
- Go to the page Special:Book
- Navigate towards the bottom right hand side, to find "Save and share your book", give it a name (make it descriptive!) and change the selection to ORBIT/Books, and click 'save'.
We'd love to see other people's books, and we hope to be able to add more ourselves as the project grows. If you'd like some inspiration, to give a few examples it'd be great to see how people compile books on:
- ICT in interactive pedagogy
- ICT in the different subjects (and for use in Teacher Education sessions themselves)
- Primary/Secondary pedagogy
